How exciting that you want to use the special travel information website and participate in this study! We ask you to visit the website and install the Sesamo app on your telephone. In addition to this, we ask you to fill out a short daily questionnaire throughout your vacation. Below we provide a step-by-step guide to help you download the apps.

Step 1: Visit the website with special travel information.

Step 2: Download the GPS tracker

Sesamo (Mobidot B.V.) is a GPS tracker, that records your movements during your vacation. We ask you to download this travel app to help us gain insight into how visitors travel through the city.  

How to download the GPS tracker?

Step 2a: Download and Install

Download Sesamo (Mobidot B.V.) from the App Store (*click here*) or the Google Play Store (*click here*)

Step 2b: Sign up

After downloading the app, you can sign up by using an activation code. The activation code for this experiment is: COPENHAGEN. From the login screen, go to “Sign Up”. Then enter your email address, username and a password of your choice. If the app asks, please turn on your location and notifications. Rest assured, you will receive only one notification each day, containing a link to your daily questionnaire.

The app runs in the background and records your travel movements. As a participant, you can always pause the GPS tracker. Your travel behaviour will then not be recorded. Due to advanced technology, the power consumption of the app is minimal.

Step 3: Answering questions

We would like to know how you are doing during your vacation. Therefore, every night you will receive a link to a short questionnaire via a notification from the Sesamo app. You help us greatly by filling out that questionnaire each night.

Final notice

• Only we (Researchers Marion Sikkens, Bernadett Papp, and Dr. Ondrej Mitas) have access to this data. In addition to this, it is good to know:
• The data will be separated from your name once we link it to your answers to the questionnaire.
• Using the app will not drain your battery quickly, or lead to a sudden increase in data usage (consumption is less than 1mb per day).
• It is important that you give the app permission to use your location data and allow notifications. Please always have your location services on for this app!
